Highlander

Platform: Amazon Prime Video

Director: Russell Mulcahy

Release Year: 1986

Watch Date: April 17, 2021

My Rating: 7.2

I had originally rated this one a 6.9, but the special effects were actually pretty cool for an 80s movie. I am a huge fan of the show, and had not seen the movie before. I don’t feel like I missed out on anything. the story line was slow, predictable, and uninspired. The basis of the story is awesome, but the scripting could have been much better.

Aside from watching with friends, the biggest saving grace for Highlander is Sean Connery. Call me biased though, I’ve been crushing on him for as long as I can remember (even though he was a blatant mysogynist). I distinctly remember watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and telling my mother that I was going to marry either Sean Connery or Harrison Ford (side note….it might be time to watch the Indiana Jones movies again….even the last one as awful as it was…it did have Cate Blanchett in it). I digress….back to the actors. The other actors seemed rigid and forced. Almost as if they couldn’t really get into character.

Would not watch again.
