As far as cheesy feel good kids movies go, this one was pretty good. I’m usually really good at figuring out a movie’s plot and how the director will get you from the beginning to the end. This movie, while it did end as suspected, did not take the expected path to get there.

Let’s start with my favorite thing about this movie….Tom Felton. That’s right, Draco Malloy plays the antagonist the Grand Guignol. While the children actors did a good job, Tom did an fabulous job of making his character goofily menacing. Other things I enjoyed were:

  • Kelly’s crush wasn’t an overwhelming part of the story.

  • The Toadies were adorable.

  • It takes place on Halloween.

  • Jacob’s mom, Mrs. Zelleman, is jokingly referred to as the Ice Queen by Kelly’s mom……and then dresses up as the Ice Queen for the company Halloween party.

  • The moral of the story (be who you are and don’t let fear get in your way) wasn’t too in your face, but it also wasn’t lost.

The director and writers left the movie open at the end for more. I’m not gonna lie….I would totally watch another one…..especially if it meant getting to meet Serena the Spider Queen and find out what happened to Liz’s little brother. This movie is based off of a book series by Joe Ballarini, which might be worth checking out.

Would watch again.
