31 Nights of Horror The Curse of Sleeping Beauty
Platform: Amazon Prime
Director: Pearry Reginald Teo
Release Year: 2016
Watch Date: October 14, 2023
My Rating: UGH!
You’re probably wondering what a rating of UGH! means. This movie had so much potential. The Veiled Demon (actually a djinn) was super creepy. The plot was intriguing. The actors weren’t bad. The cinematography was beautiful. The moving mannequins were terrifying…….
I did figure out pretty early on that Briar Rose was probably actually the villain, even though the script had given me no reason to feel that way until way later when she was talking about bloodlines. The ending totally killed this movie. What happens next? You can’t just leave it like that! I have so many questions:
Do Linda and Richard get out of the house?
Where are the other 12 djinns?
What is the fate of Tomas?
What happens to Luke? Does he save Linda and Richard?
What kind of deal did the original ancestor make with the devil?
Why are they tied to that house?
What is Bruiar Rose planning for the apocalypse?
UGH! Just UGH! Now that I have given the entire ending away. Tomas inherits a house from his uncle. Linda ends up at the house because her brother disappeared there. If Tomas leaves the house for too long, he starts to get really sick. There is a whole set of rooms in the basement that house secrets (and a not-dead sleeping beauty). Long story short, they go to the basement. Tomas kisses Briar Rose (who has been coming to him in his dreams pretending to be a damsel in distress), and there is a very unsatisfying ending that leaves me grumpy.
I will not be watching this one again!
