This may be a rival of Die Hard for Christmas movie that really isn’t a Christmas movie. I saw a clip on TikTok and decided I needed to watch the whole thing. First of all, I adore Wes Bentley (Tom). There are a few actors that I knew were going places back when they were “nobodies.” Wes was one of them (others include Chris Evans and Tom Hiddleston).
P2 is like my worst nightmare. Parking garages freak me out. You never know who or what could be lurking in the shadows. Add to that one lonely and unhinged man obsessed with you, and you have the recipe for a good psychological horror.
Sarah is working late on Christmas Eve. She has promised her family several times that she is coming and will be on her way soon. Her coworker comes in and apologizes for having had too much to drink and accosting her in the elevator. She forgives him, and he leaves (I thought this was weird, too, but it is important later).
She finally leaves, with the last of everyone else, and goes to P2, where her car is. Her car won’t start. She goes to parking security, where she finds Tom. He invites her to stay for dinner, but she declines. He is really nice and helps her try to start her car and then lets her into the elevators. She calls a cab only to find that she can’t get out of the building. She ends up back in the parking garage, trips on the way back to her car, and is knocked out.
Sarah wakes up in a way too small dress with Tom in a Santa suit. He wants her to eat; she wants to go home. She finds he has handcuffed her to the table. He shows her a video of the elevator situation I mentioned before and then tells her he has a present for her. He drives her down a few levels, and we see her coworker duct-taped to a chair. Tom wants her to beat the coworker with a flashlight. She won’t, so he does. He then proceeds to ram the coworker against the wall with his car (we’re talking gut-splitting and spilling)…..then runs into him two more times.
Sarah is able to get away, and the rest of the movie is their cat-and-mouse chases (with him catching her once but getting interrupted by the police). The movie ends with Sarah handcuffing Tom to a car and lighting him on fire when he calls her a cunt (that’s a trigger word for me too). Then she walks down the street as the police race toward the parking garage.
The script, acting, cinematography…..all of it was good. I mean, it’s not like a perfect movie or the greatest movie ever, but I will definitely be adding this to my list of movies to watch around Yule.
