31 Nights of Horror The Curse of Robert

Platform: Amazon Prime

Director: Andrew Jones

Release Year: 2016

Watch Date: October 10, 2023

My Rating: 6.0

Okay…so the stories of Robert the Doll have always fascinated me. I love a good haunting story. Much in the vein of Annabelle (whose stories also fascinate me), the killer doll gets away with murder while innocent people go to jail. A cash-strapped student(Jenny) takes a night cleaning job at the museum where Robert is on display. The night staff and the super crooked museum owner are killed one by one, leaving Jenny to take the fall. The movie ends with the possessed doll returning to the toymaker who made him and leaving room for future movies. In fact, it looks like there are at least four more.

The plot and the script were both good. My problem with this movie is that there was a lot of dead action. Sweeping shots, watching people slowly walk, your basic time fillers. The entire story could have been told in half the time. all of the dead action slowed down the pace of the movie and took it from scary to mostly boring.

I did give this one a good rating because the potential was definitely there. I will not, however, be watching any of the other films in the series.
