Release Year: 2022

My Rating: 6.8
I would have given this movie a lower score, but I was impressed with the plot. I am a big fan of Irish (Celtic) folklore and mythology. This movie centers around Crom Cruach, who historically has been seen as a deity and a demon. He demands food offerings or blood sacrifice.
In The Legend of Crom, we meet Mary, who is your average teenager working hard in school and at her food delivery job. Her father is overbearing and wants her always to achieve more and work harder. Her grumpy neighbor starts ordering Chinese takeout for Mary to deliver but never leaves a tip. She confronts him one night, and in anger, she doesn’t leave the food on the porch; she tosses it in the garbage and accidentally dumps it over the neighbor’s jack o’lantern, extinguishing the candle. That night, the neighbor is killed by Crom.
Crom then begins appearing to Mary and her friends but never kills anyone because they always seem to have food around when Crom comes….which Crom sees as an offering. After doing research, the group figures out who Crom is, and Mary learns that she is adopted and the last member in the Irish family tree that keeps Crom at bay. The teens come up with a plan to trap Crom, which seemingly works. Of course, the movie ends with a vision of Crom floating in the sky.
The acting and script were pretty bad, but the plot had a lot of potential. I do appreciate that it is a good starter horror for younger individuals or would be good for people who like horror without the gore. The costumes and cinematography were good. I don’t feel the need to watch it again, though.
