A Starting Point
Have you heard of A Starting Point? It’s an amazing website that allows multiple political view points to speak on various topics of public interest like climate change, net neutrality, and the Affordable Care Act. Over a year ago I heard Chris Evans talking about this great idea he had for making politics more understandable for everyone. I have been waiting anxiously for the website ever since. Mr. Evans partnered with Mark Kassen and Joe Kiani to make his idea into a reality. The website features three major sections:
Starting Points - This section is divided into major themes (environment, health, education) which are divided into sub themes that have questions relating to them. For instance, under Economy there is a sub theme of workforce and a common question of “what is workforce development.” Politicians are then able to submit short videos explaining their views on the topic.
Daily Points - Daily points are short videos posted by politicians on a variety of topics.
Counter Points - This is possibly my favorite section. Here two politicians, each from an opposing political party, go head to head on a specific question. Its like watching a debate, but in short video format.
The site launched in July and has an associated app. If you are confused about politics and want to get a better understanding of political view points on important matters, A Starting Point is a great resource for you. I definitely feel like it was worth the wait. Once again, Captain America shows why he is America’s hero!
