Release Year: 2007

My Rating: 8.4

I love a good anthology. And when all of the stories tie together….even better. I also super love horror movies. If it gives you a sense of my personality, I used to watch Legend every day when I was about 4. I adore all things Tim Burton, Halloween related, and anything having to do with the paranormal. Growing up I never quite fit in. I often heard people refer to me as the weird smart girl who likes strange things. I never let it bother me. I’ve grown up to be a weird smart woman who likes awesome (strange to some) things.

I’d never really been interested in this movie (the previews just didn’t look that great to me). Over the weekend one of my friends mentioned that this replaced The Nightmare Before Christmas as their favorite Halloween movie. That piqued my interest. What could possibly be better than NBC? While I don’t like this better than NBC, I did find it delightful and well casted.

The story is actually five stories that are interwoven. You have to pay attention to see how the stories all connect. They are:

  • A serial killer dad who happens to be the High School Principal.

  • A 20 something virgin looking for her “first time.”

  • A school bus full of murdered children.

  • A group of kids who pick on “the weird girl” Rhonda and play an awful trick on her.

  • A grumpy old man who doesn’t like trick or treaters.

All the while you see this creepy looking kid with a burlap sack over their head looking like a button eyed scarecrow. I’m not going to give this story away like I do so many others. I recommend you watch it. This movie happened to be on sale this past weekend with other horror comedies (the best kind of horror movies!), so I figured “what the heck?”

Will definitely watch again.

If you are in to horror comedies, I would also recommend: Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3 (don’t waste your time with 1…), The Babysitter, The Babysitter Killer Queen, Happy Death Day, and Cooties (I could recommend a lot more….feel free to send me a message if you want others).
