I am way behind on my movie reviews, so I am going to try to catch up on all of them this week.

Horror is my favorite genera of movie. I especially love the PG-13 horror movies because they tend to be scarier than the ones that are rated R. The R rating usually means more gore and swearing…which does not necessarily make for a better story. I digress.

I rather enjoyed the Insidious series. I originally saw the first film a year or so ago and wanted to see the rest, but I didn’t. VUDU finally put the entire series on sale, so I took the opportunity to buy it and watch all of the movies. The thing that I like most about this series is how it pulls everything together.

The first film leaves you wanting more you. You are grateful that the son makes it back to his body, but you are anxious to see what happens next. The second installment wraps up the first movie nicely and answers a lot of questions. I enjoyed the backstory on the Old “Woman” ghost and appreciated the appearance of ghost Elaine.

The third movie is where things get weird, but we are introduced to Specs and Tucker (Elise’s techy companions) and we learn that we shouldn’t call out to the dead because all of them can hear you. In the end Elise is able to save Quinn and banish the demon. The final movie takes us all the way back to the beginning when Elise was a little girl. She accidentally opens a door way resulting in the death of her mother, the unraveling of her father, leaving her brother when he was little, and a lot of general creepiness. In the end, as usual, Elise is able to free herself, and her niece, from the demon, reconcile with her brother and drive off into the sunset with Specs and Tucker.

I will definitely be watching these again
