Quarantine

Hello, and welcome to my new blog space. If you want to know more about me, please read the about section.

I am at the end of my second week in self quarantine. I started my quarantine because with my diabetes and asthma I have a high risk of catching COVID-19. People like me don’t tend to fair well if they catch this new fangled virus. Then I actually got sick, but luckily not with COVID-19. Don’t get me wrong, being sick totally sucks, especially when it involves an infection…..but I am grateful that it isn’t COVID-19. Being at home I’ve had a lot of time on my hands for the last two weeks. When I am not listening to ocean sounds and day dreaming about standing on the beach of Tybee Island, GA (see picture above, this is my happy place) I have been thinking about what is going on in the world. Some of the things I have learned, or concluded are:

  • Humans are incredibly resilient.

  • People pull together to help others when it matters.

  • Isolation makes people crazy and puts strains on relationships, but it also brings people together.

  • Today’s technology is amazing and helps us to socially distance ourselves, but still be “together.”

  • Virtual medical appointments are awesome.

  • The world is not going to be the same as it was before because we are not the same people we were before social distancing and pandemic crisis took over.

I am incredibly grateful to those people in the medical field (like my amazing sister), first responders, transportation agencies, the armed forces, and everyone else who keeps us moving even though it means they aren’t able to shelter in place.

As for you, I hope that you are safe, healthy, and happy. Stay strong. We’ve got this!
